Symptoms of True [Swag]

Not to be confused with "this",

Though "swag" and "swagger" are interchangeable, the songs are not,

Eugh,

One of the first track where I really meshed some samples. Props to the highly revered JUST BLAZE[/Just Blaze tag voice] (just found out Bink!(!!) is the producer)!!

Maniac

This beat is from a looooooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooOOOOoooOOo(who)OoOoOoooOOo(a)ooOooong time ago. Centuries. Like a lot of the old stuff, still felt a bit of the idea behind what motivated me to do it in the first place. So, a bit of flipping was done; tweaks & EQ'ing; yada, yada, yada; I found $20 dollars; and BoW!

Was Originally About Takin A Jumpoff To The Telly

"I'm back at it."~Rapper Big Pooh

Mo(re) (moar!) music fo.da.ass! I actually made this beat a loooooooooong time ago. Went back and touched it up and flared (whoooooo!) up some parts. The song became about the lust for success and wealth which wasn't my initial intention, but didn't mind arriving at.

So, with adieus postponed no further,

Hundredth Monkey Effect

Not gonna lie; I was a little salty when I heard this. But I'm just gonna take it as I'm on the right track. And that dude 40 thinks I'm tyte. That's cool cause he's pretty tyte.

But my tyte was tyte before I heard his tyte(#noshots),

(I Wanna)...(Witchu)

Haven't done this in awhile. Back in high school the punchline was king. Lloyd Bank$ was really poppin, Cassidy was around, rediscovering Big L, etc. If you didn't have punchlines you couldn't rap basically. Definitely fell back on that as I matured as an emcee, but it's fun to go back.

This is an amalgamation of a bunch of verses I wrote last summer, and I cobbled together the best of em. So...chea slash cha'mon!

P.S.-Shout out to the High & Mighty HM.

What I Want

Another piece of what's to come.

Wrote this a while back after I got the beat from Snare; recorded it awhile back, but not as far back as when I wrote it, and got some vocals with the same girl on To Make You Move. This is may be my favorite song I've ever done. Just me being honest without the usual hip-hop braggadocio slash materialism. When it's all said and done, after the fame and like whatever, if I don't have the things I talk about in this song my life might = fail.

The High School Me Would Be So Disappointed...

But this is absolutely how I feel. I remember when I first started rapping it was all about being "underground", "real", and "hip-hop"; anything else was sellout bullshit. Nowadays, I have a great appreciation for pop music and the songwriting that goes into making a great all-around hit. It may also be that "pop" is not exactly as looked down on in hip-hop as it was in the past. Maybe that's why we get "Laffy Taffy", "Crank Dat", "Pop Champagne", and so forth...It's not all going to be good, but the real artists are there if you look for them.

I guess it's like Eminem said,

All I hear is I'm the best at this and I'm the best at that/
But I don't hear my name no never brought up in rap/...
But when they say one of the best I'm nowhere thought up as that/...
Not even the same league as Jay-Z, NaS, Pac, Biggie/...
Say...all hear is pop tunes on the radio/
And they play Em twenty times in a row daily/
And that very well may be the same reason they don't say me/
When they speak on hip-hop legends which jus amaze me/
Cause I thought the formula was to hit mainstream/
And make it big, B-Big Big, baby baby!!/

Personally, I would love to get played on the radio twenty times in a row.

"B****, You Know What My Name Is..."

Full disclosure: I am on the search for the perfect hip-hop cover. Maybe it's been done before, but most of the examples I can think of I wouldn't consider true "covers". Per se. Either they change all the lyrics (Big Pun & Fat Joe-Deep Cover '98) or too many of the lyrics (Def Squad-Rapper's Delight). I'm goin for either an almost exact replica or an interesting reinterpretation. Either way, I think the lyrics need to stay almost exactly the same.

This turned out different then how it sounded in my head, but I'm satisfied with how it came out. Maybe I'll come back to it. It's appropriate this would be the first song I attempt to do this with since Em is one of the reasons that I do music. "Things that make you go, 'Hmmmmmm'..." Anyways,
