"These Are The Things..."

A long time comin for this track. This is probably the best I've done so far. Beat comes from my man Opie who is a beast on the boards. The song's just basically about the daily struggle most have to go through, but...man...this track...this track right here my nigga...omigod. Eh, I talk to much. Without further adieu,

  1. I woke up this morning feeling the same way as the day before/
    What I do that for/
I didn't come home to an eviction note taped to the door/
Landlord said she could wait a couple of days more/
And my car didn't break down/ (Break down)
But I still had to bus my way round/ (Way round)
Cause gas is more than I get paid now/ (Paid now)
I'm waitin on the Marta train/
Gotta keep my head up, can't get to upset about my set-up/
Cause I've got to admit all the time it's getting better/
And I don't get worried about these debt collectors/
Cause I jus add their bills to my pile of past due letters/
It's jus, most days I have to skip lunch/
Cause it's either three meals a day or get drunk/
And a full stomach don't help me black out and forget all the funerals/
    I ain't complainin it's jus the usual/

(These are the things of the day-to-day)
Trying to keep my head in the game/
Seems like the obstacles never change/
    From the day-to-day/
(These are the things of the day-to-day)
So when you see me goin like it's my life on the line/
    Naw I ain't extra on my grind/
    It's jus the day-to-day/

    (Keep it movin)

I should've listened to my mother, when she was tellin me/
Not focused on lesser things, or seen it as pestering/
Or questioned her questioning, cause she wasn't lecturing/
Providing her mentoring, but it wasn't registering/
Was fresh as a nectarine, I mean I was jus seventeen/
And didn't know anything, which goes without mentioning/
But now I'd give anything, for insight on anything/
Like business card lettering/ (How much you spend on a wedding ring)
And I remember what my pops told me/
If you don't get an education you are not going/
    Anywhere, back then I didn't get him/
My mans said not to do like him, I didn't listen/
    My girl said "Whatever"/
So now it seems the more that I pay attention all the time it's getting better/
So I listened to what the weatherman was sayin/
Skipped class to get my umbrella and it didn't rain/ (Damn)

(These are the things of the day-to-day)
Trying to keep my head in the game/
